    "description": "Sediment trap from mooring in Wilson Canyon, Ross Sea. McClane Parflux Sediment Trap with 13 bottles, moored ~ 10 m above seafloor. Mooring also contained ADCP, CTD and turbidity meter. \n\nVariables measured: sediment samples collected on monthly basis, poisoned with mercuric chloride upon recovery. Samples stored at NIWA, Wellington. \n\nDeployed during TAN2302 voyage (31 January 2023), recovered during LB2401 voyage (14 February 2024). \n\nAim of project is to understand sediment transport via dense water flows from the shelf to the deep ocean, facilitated by submarine canyons. \n\nCollaboration between the New Zealand Antarctic Science Platform, NIWA and the University of Plymouth. \n\nGET DATA: scott.nodder@niwa.co.nz",
